WASSERSTROM PLAYS COMMUNITY ROLE
As graduation ceremonies are celebrated nationwide, The Wasserstrom Co. is marking another year of underwriting scholarships. The Columbus, Ohio, company has partnered with the Culinary Institute of America since 2001, granting scholarships to 15 aspiring foodservice professionals over the years, including two students in 2010. A second fund was established in 2007 at Columbus State Community College. The Wasserstrom Family Scholarship contributes to a student in the school's hospitality management program.

The outreach to the city it was founded in 108 years ago included participation last month with Rebuilding Together Central Ohio. Three dozen employees from Wasserstrom and its sister companies joined more than 67,000 volunteers nationwide on the last Saturday in April for National Rebuild Day to renovate 3,500 homes across the country.

Wasserstrom employees spent a drizzly day renovating a house in serious disrepair; the work included replacing a rotting carport ceiling, installing handrails, re-glazing windows and painting front steps.

WELCOME TO FER DEALER REPORT
We thank you for reading the inaugural issue of our new e-newsletter for dealers. We've created this new product to serve the broad foodservice equipment and supplies dealer and distributor community. Our magazine, Foodservice Equipment Reports, has always been sent to dealers, as many of you know. And many of you also receive FER Fortnightly, our three-section e-newsletter covering regulatory, economic and industry news for the E&S industry.

But we think this new newsletter, with news and information about dealers, exclusively for dealers (and their suppliers), will allow us to better serve all of you. We can report things, such as buying group activities, which we don't like to put in front of our multiunit operator readers. We can do broader coverage of FEDA programs and activities, list NAFEM CFSP training and exam sessions, AutoQuotes training, manufacturer dealer-school and training programs, and the like. We'd also like to report dealer news no one else covers, like who won that bid for a new sports stadium or casino project. And we also want to report on your dealership, including shows, new personnel, expansions, charity and community activities.

So please send your news to Brian and Jan at bward@fermag.com and jashton@fermag.com. And please keep reading FER Dealer Report.
