Taco Bell Franchisee In New Hands

One of the country’s largest Taco Bell franchisees has been acquired. K-Mac Holdings Corp. has been purchased by the Los Angeles-based equity investment firm Brentwood Associates. K-Mac, located in Fort Smith, Ark., operates 190 restaurants in six states, including 166 Taco Bell, 19 KFC and five Golden Corral restaurants. Its stores are located in Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

K-Mac, founded in 1964, will continue to be led by CEO Sam Fiori. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is the third investment that Brentwood Associates has made in the restaurant industry, and second in the Yum! Brands franchise system. In `04, Brentwood invested in Pacific Island Restaurants, a franchisee of 89 Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.
