Dunkin’ Donuts Plans 500 In India

In its largest international development agreement to date, Dunkin’ Donuts has inked a deal to open 500 doughnut shops in India over the next 15 years. The Canton, Mass., chain signed the agreement with Jubilant FoodWorks. Jubilant also holds master franchisee rights for Domino’s Pizza in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Dunkin’s entry into India follows its expansion over the past several years in Europe, the Middle East, Latin and South America as well as the Asia-Pacific region. Dunkin’ entered Russia in 2010 with eight openings and has opened more than 70 restaurants in China since ’07.

The company reported 574 net new global restaurant openings in ’10. Dunkin’ operates some 9,700 restaurants on four continents; it opened its 3,000th international location in March.
