VOLLRATH BUYS TRAEX FROM LIBBEY

On April 28, The Vollrath Co. announced it had acquired Traex Co. from Libbey Glass, a subsidiary of Libbey Inc. In its first-quarter earnings report, Toledo, Ohio-based Libbey said that it expects to receive net proceeds of more than $13 million from the sale.

Both companies are headquartered in Wisconsin: Vollrath is based in Sheboygan; Traex operates from a plant and warehouse in Dane.

The Traex acquisition broadens Vollrath’s product line to include warewashing systems, tabletop accessories, bar supplies, food-preparation products, dispensers and trays as well as plastic molding capabilities. "With the acquisition of Traex, Vollrath now has a state-of-the-art, well-equipped injection mold plastic manufacturing facility, managed by a very knowledgeable and skilled workforce," said Paul Bartelt, Vollrath’s president and CEO, in announcing the acquisition.

Traex is Vollrath’s first acquisition since it acquired Luxine, Anvil America and Lincoln Smallwares in 2009.
