CFSP PROGRAM SIMPLIFIES POINT SYSTEM, ADDS OVERVIEW SEMINARS

The Certified Food Service Professional program has recently undergone two changes that should streamline the application and updating processes. First, the point-earning/recording requirements have been simplified and the North American Food Equipment Manufacturers Association no longer differentiates between advancement and maintenance points. To maintain certification, participants pay dues ($50 every two years) and earn one point per year. (One needs only two points between dues payments, but there is no limit to how many points can be acquired.) Participants advance naturally to the various levels of certification when they earn the required number of points.

In addition, there is the newly unveiled CFSP Product Package, which includes the application fee, textbook, overview seminar and exam. A full list of pricing and other FAQs is available at www.nafem.org or by contacting Vonceil Roberts, program coordinator, member services, at 312/821-0216 or at robertsv@nafem.org.

Also new is an annual overview seminar at NAFEM’s Chicago headquarters office in August. The Equipment & Supplies Overview Seminar is scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Attendees can follow it up with the exam in NAFEM’s offices on Aug. 11 or 12. Sign up at NAFEM’s website.
