Celebrations:

  • Buffalo Hotel Supply, owned and managed by the Bedard family for 74 years, recently was feted by the Western New York Council of Food Services Associations at its annual awards dinner. The dealership was presented with the 2012 Gold Medal, a top award for longtime contributions to the foodservice industry, which has been awarded by CFSA only 12 times in the past 33 years. Adding to the luster of the award, seven CFSA organizations had to vote unanimously for the nominee to receive it. Those associations include local chapters of the National Restaurant Association, the American Culinary Federation and the Club Managers Association of America.
  • Hamilton Store Fixtures Ltd. founder Sam Lewis celebrated his 100th birthday on March 17. The newly minted centenarian still comes into the office two mornings a week. Lewis, recognized as Canada’s first dealer for many foodservice products including Garland and Steelite, is an inductee of the Canadian Foodservice Hall of Fame. Today, the Hamilton, Ontario-based HSF is run by the second and third generations of the Lewis family. Birthday greetings can be sent to sam100@hsfltd.com
