NRA’s Performance Index Shows April Sales Up 0.4%

The National Restaurant Association released its monthly Restaurant Performance Index data for April on May 30. To check out the trends, click here.

While some other researchers have reported slowing growth in restaurant same-store sales and traffic in April, the U.S. Commerce Department’s monthly data on retail sales had eating- and-drinking place sales rising another 0.4% in the preliminary estimate in April to $43.9 billion, after upwards revision to the March numbers. On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales are up a strong 8.6% from a year ago. For the first four months of 2012, combined sales are 8.3% ahead of the same four months last year.
