Burger King Expands In Colombia, Enters Siberia

Burger King Worldwide has plans to get bigger in Colombia and expand into Siberia.

The chain has inked an exclusive development deal with Fondo Escala Capital and Promotora to further its brand in Colombia by more than 100 new stores within the next five years. The home of the Whopper entered Colombia in 2008 and currently has a presence in 29 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

The chain will expand into Siberia later this year. Burger King debuted in Russia two years ago and now has 70 restaurants there. The Siberian outlet will be in Surgut.

Although McDonald’s has been in the Russian market for two decades, the company just announced in August its plans to expand into Siberia with at least 10 units. Up until these announcements, Subway and KFC were the only global quick-service chains with a presence in Siberia.
