In Memoriam: Manufacturers’ Rep Ray Ward

Long-time MAFSI member and past president Ray Ward died suddenly on Dec. 5.

Ward spent 30 years as a manufacturers’ rep in upstate New York, where he was a principal of Rochester-based Quality Rep Source. The firm merged in 2007 with Bassett-Carragher Associates to form Link2 Hospitality Solutions. Three years ago, he took a post in North Carolina to help BMILTechnologies grow global business for its Bally Walk-In division.

Ward was an active industry presence. He served many years on the MAFSI board, and held national offices including treasurer, v.p., and, in ’04, president. In ‘08, he received the association’s highest honor, the MAFSI Tony Award.

“Ray’s sudden passing is a shock to all of us who were lucky enough to know him,” said Foodservice Equipment Reports Publisher Robin Ashton. “He bravely and successfully battled cancer for years, and so to lose him so unexpectedly just doesn’t seem fair. He was such a happy, friendly, whip-smart guy. He did a great deal for this business. We’ll all miss him.”

Survivors include his wife, Karen. For information on memorials, contact MAFSI at mafsi(at)org.
