Family-Owned New England Dealers Merge

Kittredge Equipment Co., the Agawam, Mass., dealer, has purchased Northeast Food Service Equipment and Supply, a Bow, N.H.-based dealer. Both companies are family-owned businesses with a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, which laid the groundwork for the deal, according to Jeffrey Mackey, v.p.-sales and operations at Kittredge. “The acquisition has positioned us to help grow our local New England business by having several locations and vast amounts of stock available to our customers.”

A joint statement from Northeast owners Dave and Barbara Unger and former business partner Jack Nicholas reinforced the close-knit atmosphere. “As a family-owned business, it was important to us to find the right partner to help this company move into the future. We are thrilled that the values of Kittredge Equipment are so closely aligned with ours: those of integrity, value, service, quality, and hard work.”

Kittredge, which has been family-owned since its founding in 1921, is headed by Pres./Owner Wendy Webber. It has superstores in Agawam and Williston, Vt. The company reported 2011 sales of $24 million for FER’s 2012 Top Dealer Report.
