In Memoriam: Rep Dean Barringer

Longtime MAFSI member Dean Barringer, founder of Denver-based Barringer Marketing, passed away April 8. He was 94.

The Kansas native began his E&S sales career at Arnholtz Coffee in Wichita, Kan. In 1963, he started Barringer Sales, later known as Barringer Marketing Group and currently known as Barringer High Country Marketing. In the 1960s, he built the business with new chains like Mr. Steak and Village Inn and start-up consultants Duane Newlin and later Tom Ricca.

Sons Mike and Brent joined the firm in the early ’70s. The rep firm merged with Mohr Sales Agency in `91; Barringer retired the following year after 39 years heading the office. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and survived by four sons, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
