New York Hotel Show To Unveil Winning Foodservice Concept

When the International Hotel, Motel & Restaurant Show asked consultants to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard to create “The Next Great Foodservice Concept,” the IHMRS staff set no limits.

The competition for the design of a revenue-generating foodservice concept attracted 11 entrants. They provided a concept description, sample menu, renderings, equipment list and floorplan. Under project director Marsha Diamond, MA, RD, an expert panel of nine operators/industry leaders spanning all segments of the foodservice and hospitality industry served as judges of this year’s Foodservice Pioneering Concept. Foodservice Equipment Reports is the exclusive media partner of the competition.

This year’s winning concept is by Global Test Kitchen for Pie Squared. Second place was awarded to A La Carte Consulting Group for Herban Green; third place went to Webb Foodservice Design for California BBQ.

Global Test Kitchen will install their concept as a working model on the exhibit show floor for use as a gathering place for show attendees. The second- and third-place concept winners also will be on display during the Nov. 10-12 IHMRS Show. The show is held each year at the Javits Convention Center

The winning concept will be featured in an early 2014 issue of FER.
