Ian Garner, Hobart Managing Director, To Retire After 40 Years

After nearly 40 years as a one-company man, Ian Garner, managing director of Hobart Cooking Solutions, will retire at the end of the year.

Garner began his 39-year tenure with the UK operation on the accounts team and in sales, before becoming sales director in 1994, director for sales and marketing in ‘97, and managing director in ‘99. Most recently he assisted Hobart through its acquisition by ITW, and also helped centralize and restructure the business in Peterborough. Upon his retirement, he leaves three clear divisions in place: cooking, service and warewashing. Garner’s successor as managing director will be announced soon.

“Having overseen the smooth transition and successful implementation of the new organization,” Garner said, “I feel the time is right for me to make the move. I retain my passion and enthusiasm for the industry.”
