Top 100 E&S Manufacturers Sales Growth Outpaced Industry Again In 2012

The 100 largest manufacturers of foodservice equipment, supplies, furnishings and  related products grew combined sales 5.7%, according to data released during Foodservice Equipment Reports annual President’s Preview E&S Market Forecast meeting Aug. 7 in Rosemont, Ill. The growth rate beat that of the broad market by nearly two full points. FER estimates that E&S market at the manufacturer level grew 3.8% last year in current dollars. FER has annually ranked the leading manufacturers by revenues since 2007.

“Except for those with significant international exposure, 2012 was another good year for many manufacturers,” said FER Publisher Robin Ashton during the meeting. He also noted that with combined sales reaching $12.973 billion, the Top 100 finally exceeded the pre-recession sales peak of $12.575 billion, reached in 2008.

All four quartiles of the Top 100 had growth rates exceeding the industry average, with the strongest growth in the third quartile at 6.3%. Only four companies in the Top 100 saw sales declines, while one company’s revenues were flat.

More detail on the Top 100 E&S Manufacturers, including the actual listing of companies with their sales for the past three years, is available in FER‘s annual forecast package along with seven other PowerPoint decks covering the scope of the forecast, for $1,295, by emailing rashton@fermag.com. “””
