McDonald’s UK Opening Doors To Its Supply Chain

McDonald’s is giving members of the British public unique access to go behind the scenes of the farms and factories in its supply chain and evaluate and report on what they find there.

The “quality scouts” initiative allows volunteers, led by former rugby star and Celebrity Masterchef winner Phil Vickery, to visit different parts of the company’s UK supply chain, from farms to factories. The scouts then can produce reports on their findings, which will be published on a new McDonald’s website explaining how its products are made.

Warren Anderson, v.p.-supply chain at McDonald’s UK, said in a statement: “Every day, people ask us questions about our food and our ingredients, so we’re inviting members of the public to see for themselves what’s in some of our most popular products and follow the journey from farm to restaurant.”

The move was made in response to growing consumer interest and polls showing overwhelming public interest in the provenance and production of foods.
