Los Angeles County To Take Inspections Online

And the biggest county on the West Coast has some news about restaurant inspections as well. Beginning July 1, the Los Angeles County Public Health Department will go paperless and move to an all-electronic inspection reporting process. The new online process will be gradually instituted countywide throughout the summer and fall by November.

Inspectors will conduct inspections via tablets and email their completed reports to restaurant operators, who will need to print the report themselves to have a hard copy on file. California law requires restaurants to make the most recent report available to customers who come in and request one. Inspection reports also will be posted on the county’s public health website within 24 hours of completion.
