Texas Capital Offers Water Rebate Program

Some like to think that everything is bigger in Texas. In the state capital, at least, the rebates for water savings are pretty considerable—up to $100,000 for foodservice equipment and process upgrades that produce water savings of at least 100 gals. per day.

Austin Water offers rebates to customers who replace existing foodservice equipment, including but not limited to cooking equipment, ovens, dishmachines, ice machines, and pre-rinse spray valves, with more water-efficient models. Water savings are based on information from the EPA’s Energy Star program.

Equipment eligible for the rebate also might qualify for an energy rebate from Austin Energy or Texas Gas Service. Rebates cannot be used for labor costs or to replace equipment already meeting the qualifying higher efficiency standards under the program. Installed equipment must be new, carry a minimum 1-year warranty, and remain in use in Austin for at least five years or with equipment that achieves an equal or greater level of water service.
