In Memoriam: Rep Carl Kaufmann

Longtime MAFSI member Carl M. Kaufmann passed away March 17 at age 77. He was the founder of the New York-based rep firm, Kaufmann & Associates.

The Pittsburgh native got his start in the foodservice industry in 1961, when he took a job at his uncle’s equipment supply house on the Bowery in lower Manhattan. After several years of working in that business, Carl helped form Kaufmann-Goldberger Associates, a manufacturers’ rep firm.

In 1981, he established Carl Kaufmann &Associates. Together with his wife, Beverly, he built a thriving business representing many top manufacturers. He sold the firm after 25 years and moved to Denver, where he continued to represent manufacturers in the Colorado marketplace.

Contributions can be made in his honor to the National Jewish Health division of cardiology, P.O. Box 17169, Denver, CO 80217 or to The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Denver, 7205 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, CO 80246.
