In Memoriam: Robert Lynn

Robert Lynn, the founder of Tampa, Fla.-based Arco Food Service Supply, died Feb. 11. He was 74.

Trained as a mechanical engineer, Lynn served in myriad positions—manufacturing, design and sales–throughout a long career in the foodservice E&S industry. He got his start in 1961 as a sales engineer at Alco Standard Corp. in Valley Forge, Pa. In 1973, he became a partner in Island Food Service Equipment in Tampa, where he stayed until founding Arco in 1982. He operated Arco for more than a quarter-century.

Survivors include sons Joseph and Andrew and four grandchildren. Services have been held. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Rodeph Sholom, the Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, c/o Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3164, Boston, MA 02241-3164, Lifepath Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
