DeSutter Takes Reins At Focus Brands

Former Stripes executive Steve DeSutter has been named president and CEO of the multi-concept franchisor Focus Brands, effective March 17. DeSutter will replace Russ Umphenour, who has served as CEO for five years and will continue with Focus Brands as a member of the board of directors.

Atlanta-based Focus Brands is the franchisor of seven brands, which include more than 4,400 locations spanning the U.S. and 63 foreign countries: Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Cinnabon, McAlister’s Deli, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Schlotzsky’s and Seattle’s Best Coffee.

DeSutter previously held the same titles at Stripes LLC, which operates about 620 c-stores. Prior to his work at Stripes, DeSutter’s experience included his role as at Burger King Corp., where he served as the chain’s president of Europe and the Middle East.
