Restaurant Equipment Distributors of Canada, the second largest commercial foodservice equipment and smallwares buying group in that country, and the U.S.-based PRIDE Marketing and Procurement have entered into a strategic alliance that will see them exploring synergies and providing procurement programs and resources that benefit shareholders of both groups.
R.E.D., headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, has 32 members. PRIDE’s member-owned buying group is comprised of 135 members throughout the U.S., Canada, Cayman Islands, and Mexico.
Each group will remain independent, maintaining its respective organizational structure, bylaws, and membership criteria. Dealers will be permitted to have dual membership and shareholder status within both organizations. R.E.D. will be a proponent for PRIDE in Canada and all new Canadian-based PRIDE dealers will be required to be approved shareholders of R.E.D. as a condition of membership in PRIDE.
On Nov. 1, three Canadian PRIDE dealers joined R.E.D. as new shareholders: Monas & Co, Montreal; Igloo Food Equipment, Toronto; and Paragon Food Equipment, Vancouver.
On that same day, eight Canadian R.E.D. dealers joined PRIDE as new shareholders: Barrie Equipment Sales, Barrie, Ontario; Brama Inc., Vaughan, Ontario; Canada Food Equipment, Ltd., Etobicoke, Ontario; Canadian Restaurant Supply, British Columbia; Équipements de Restaurants de L’est, Montreal; Hotel Equipment & Supply Co Ltd., Edmonton, Alberta; La Maison Rondeau, Quebec; and Summertime Industries, St. John, New Brunswick.
