Proactive Program Seeks To Train Operators On Foodborne Illness
A new initiative sponsored by the National Environmental Health Association could give foodservice operators more tools to keep their restaurants safe and clear of foodborne illnesses. The group has begun hosting free workshops designed to train restaurant operators how to respond to foodborne illness outbreak and recall situations. The first Industry Foodborne Illness Investigation Training & Recall Response workshop takes place Jan. 8 in Plano, Texas.
The workshop provides the opportunity for retail food establishments to connect face-to-face and collaborate with local regulatory staff in advance of a foodborne illness or recall and develop best practices to prevent foodborne illness and create response plans in the event of illness outbreaks, customer or product complaints and food recalls.
