James Walker, chief development officer at Johnny Rockets, has been promoted to president-operations and development at the Aliso Viejo, Calif., company. Walker, who joined the 330-unit chain in December 2013, will oversee development strategy, including construction, design and real estate, as well as domestic and international operations. Prior to joining Johnny Rockets, Walker was chief development officer at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and The Brass Tap. He has appointed Jim Hicks as senior v.p.-domestic operations and Gene Savage as director-franchise sales and real estate.
Phil Keiser, president and COO of Culver Franchising System, will become Culver’s CEO and president on June 15, succeeding the chain’s co-founder, Craig Culver, on his 65th birthday. Under Keiser’s leadership since 2003, the 535-unit fast-casual chain has surpassed the $1 billion mark in systemwide sales and opened more than 330 restaurants across 22 states. Culver’s opened 34 new restaurants in 2014 with another 40-plus more planned for 2015.
