Jollibee To Debut In Canada

Jollibee Foods Corp., the biggest QSR chain in the Philippines, will open its first Jollibee store in Canada this year.

Jollibee CFO Ysmael Baysa said the company expects to launch first in Toronto. The chain also plans to add more stores in the Middle East and open its first units in Japan and some parts of Europe over the next two to three years. After a 2014 that saw Jollibee open 234 stores, including 169 in the Philippines and 65 abroad, it has bigger plans for 2015: The 2,300-unit company plans to open 330 stores, including 220 in the Philippines and 110 overseas, where it currently operates 612 stores.

Aside from its flagship brand Jollibee, the Manila-based company owns or franchises Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal and Burger King.

The company will open five Dunkin’ Donut outlets this year in China under a joint-venture agreement signed last December with Jasmine Asset Holding Ltd. Jollibee’s wholly owned subsidiary Jollibee Worldwide Pte. Ltd. will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business.
