Participation Grows In FEDA Data Interchange

The FEDA Data Interchange initiative continues to gain momentum across the foodservice industry’s various segments. As of press time, FDI has 1,158 dealers, 294 reps and 104 manufacturers involved with the initiative.

FDI and its partner, AutoQuotes, streamline the order-tracking process between when the product is manufactured, specified by the consultant, priced by the rep and sold to the end user by the dealer by creating new data standards and leveraging technology to improve communication. A list of participating FDI manufacturers is available here.

“The decision to participate in this program is based on the fact that everyone has to work together to take care of the customer,” said Jack McDonald, CFSP, V.P.-Marketing and Business Development, Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group. The group’s Master-Bilt and Nor-Lake brands recently became live on the FDI. “Dealers spend 20% of their day chasing mundane order data. This process alleviates that need. With data from 700,000 products and 500 manufacturers,” McDonald said, “AutoQuotes can be used by every channel every step of the way to accelerate the entire quoting process for reps and dealers.”

According to FEDA President Brad Pierce, “As dealers, we need to continue to encourage our suppliers to participate in these valuable initiatives and treat them to more purchase orders. We need to have active conversations with factory personnel regarding technology initiatives and encourage everyone to strive for the mark of ‘exceptional manufacturer.’”
