Announced E&S Price Increases Are Not Yet Significant, AutoQuotes Reports

While many foodservice equipment and supplies manufacturers have told FER Fortnightly they plan to raise prices later this year or early next, Kent Motes, CEO at AutoQuotes Inc., says most have yet to make formal announcements.

Only 12 manufacturers announced list-price increases for November, not significantly higher than the eight increases taken in November 2009. In November ’08, 17 manufacturers announced increases, and during the rapid run-up of commodities prices in ’07, 30 manufacturers took price increases in November.

Only 15 manufacturers have so far announced increases for January. Last year, 106 suppliers announced increases, versus 138 in January ’08 and 145 in ’07.

Motes says this doesn’t mean there won’t be a significant number of increases in the first quarter, just that they haven’t yet been announced.
