Chef’s Choice Purchased By The Legacy Companies

Not quite a year after it bought Bevles from Standex Int’l., The Legacy Companies has acquired EdgeCraft Corp., maker of the Chef’s Choice brand. The completed deal was official June 3. Legacy, a privately owned company based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., also owns Blakeslee, Excalibur, General, Greenfield WorldTrade, Kold-Draft, Maxximum, Nautilus, Omega, and Zeroll.

The Chef’s Choice brand debuted in 1985 with its first electric knife sharpener. The brand’s 100-plus models of electric and manual knife sharpeners, electric food grinders and slicers, wafflemakers, grills and hot beverage products are now available in more than 80 countries

Legacy CEO Neal Asbury emphasized that Chef’s Choice will remain headquartered in Avondale, Pa., and will maintain its current operations there. “We are pleased to announce the completion of this acquisition.  It represents our continued commitment to expanding our USA-based manufacturing operations and building our portfolio of Legacy brands.”

EdgeCraft President Sam Weiner commented, “It’s exciting for EdgeCraft to be an official part of The Legacy Companies where we can leverage the resources and brand expertise of each company to further innovate and develop our products to accelerate growth worldwide.”
