Shake Shack Plans “Sweet 16” Openings In ‘16

The same week it debuted only its fourth Midwest location, at Minnesota’s Mall of America, the New York chain announced it would open its first store in South Korea. That unit will start operating in one of Seoul’s largest communities, Gangnam Avenue, later this summer, but until then, Shake Shack has built an illuminated art installation around the construction site. Long-term, the burger chain is aiming for 450 domestic locations, and after a successful debut on the West Coast, has ramped up its anticipated openings this year to 16 stores. Currently, there are 47 company-owned, five franchised, and 36 internationally licensed Shacks.
