Spanish Pizza Chain Readies For UK Debut

Telepizza, the Madrid-based restaurant chain, announced its expansion plans for the UK, aiming to open over 80 franchises within the next 10 years. The 29-year-old Spanish chain is collaborating with Karali Ventures as its first key master franchisee there; the firm plans to open 80 stores.

Telepizza, perhaps the largest non-U.S.-based pizza delivery company in the world (based on number of stores), foresees opening at least 300 stores, with between 20 and 30 franchisees, and hopes to develop 30 regional markets in the UK over the next 10 years. The announcement was made a month before the Brexit vote, and the company has not altered its plans, publicly.

Furthermore, the brand plans to continue to grow in countries where it already has a presence. Currently, Telepizza has 1,311 restaurants in 15 countries in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East; 850 outlets are franchised.
