BurgerFuel Steps On The Pedal For U.S. Launch

On the heels of ending its collaboration with Subway and Franchise Brands following the death of its founder Fred DeLuca, almost a year ago, New Zealand-based BurgerFuel is moving ahead with plans to launch in the States. The chain, which has 47 domestic outlets and more than 80 outlets in six countries, is eyeing the Midwest for its first U.S. location. BurgerFuel opened 12 new stores in the past year in New Zealand, Australia and the Middle East, including a new unit in Iraq. Subway retains a 10% holding in BurgerFuel as well as a position on its board.
