Naugles Plans Comeback Through Franchising

It’s been 20 years since the doors of the last remaining Naugles location closed, but the QSR chain is making a comeback. After winning back rights to the Naugles trademark from Del Taco, a new unit opened in Fountain Valley, Calif., in August 2015. Now the chain, which had operated from 1970 to 1995, is making a push for franchisees, with hopes for up to 1,000 units—five times the size of the original Riverside, Calif., chain. Fransmart, which helped grow brands such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries, is focusing on opening drive-thrus in Orange County, Calif. The first 100 outlets are expected to open in the next five to six years.
