OBITUARIES: BILL PETERS AND HARRIS DUX

Two pioneers in the rep field have died. Both men, Harris Dux and Bill Peters, were longtime members of the Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry.

Former MAFSI president George W. “Bill” Peters of Atlanta-based Peters & Peters Inc., died Sept. 5. As MAFSI reported in its tribute, Peters was the first of the high-energy reps in the Southeast, “pioneering end-user and consultant relationships to the point that no one could break his specs. He was a tireless cheerleader for reps and for opportunities to raise the standards of professionalism.”

Survivors include his wife, Anne, and daughters Jennifer and Allison. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation in Bill’s memory. The firm’s address is Peters and Peters, 8737 Dunwoody Place, Ste. #5, Atlanta, Ga. 30350.

Harris Dux, 82, passed away Aug. 31 in North Hudson, Wis. After a stint building and operating an A&W store, Dux worked for Litton Microwaves at the debut of microwave cooking technology. In the late 1960s, he joined the North Star Agency in Edina, Minn. He became the rep firm’s second owner, and remained with North Star for more than 25 years. Until his death, Dux had been working with his business partner and friend, Mike DeLuca. A memorial service was held Sept. 7. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary, and three sons.
