NRA Adds Political Advocacy V.P., Plans Public Affairs Conference

The flood of newly elected officials to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives makes it a fresh start for many issues and bills under debate, and enhances the importance of the 2011 National Restaurant Association Public Affairs Conference, April 13-14 in Washington, D.C.

The restaurant industry’s largest and most important grassroots event provides foodservice professionals the chance to meet and greet colleagues and politicians, as well as introduce and promote the restaurant industry on Capitol Hill. The association’s program includes an insider’s view of legislative process, as well as meetings with key lawmakers and officials who shape policy that affects the business.  Register today.

The NRA also added a new voice to its political arm. Rob Gifford has been named executive v.p.-political advocacy. He will be responsible for advancing the association’s political impact and growing local, state and federal mobilization. Gifford was president and CEO of the Michigan Restaurant Association for more than 18 years; he previously worked in government relations at the National Restaurant Association.
