APP OF THE MONTH
Wall-mounted draft beer dispensing systems serve as a cost-effective option, compared with custom-built beer towers, when it comes to meeting customers’ growing demand for a wide selection of craft beers. The number of faucets is only limited by the amount of wall space and the size of your walk-in cooler. To support the wall-mounted system, Perlick Corp. recently introduced Cooler Tapping Kits, containing 14 components, to connect kegs from the cooler through the wall to customer-facing, back-wall faucets. “While the through-the-wall connection is not new, the ability to order a kit with all the necessary components is,” a company spokesperson says. “Operators previously had to buy these pieces individually.” Connecting kegs through the wall to faucets eliminates the need to run and conceal long trunk lines. The through-the-wall connection doesn’t affect the beer quality; it only makes the mechanicals of dispensing systems easier and often less expensive to install and maintain. Used with air-cooled systems, the Cooler Tapping Kits are available in 50 different configurations, depending on the total wall thickness (ranging from 0-in. to 9-in.) and number of faucets. Be sure to include all materials, such as drywall, stone or brick, when measuring wall thickness. The hardware components work for many domestic and imported beers pressured through straight CO2. perlick.com

CLEVER OIL MANAGEMENT
Easily swap out different filter media using this rolling, stand-alone Flexible Filter System. Rotate between stainless steel, paper or disposable carbon filters, depending on your operation’s needs. Stainless is the more economical choice while paper, the next step up, can increase the quality of fried foods. Carbon offers even more advantages, such as increased absorptive capacity and the ability to remove a high level of particulate contamination, boosting food quality and extending oil life. The Flexible Filter System is low to the ground, making it easier to use, and comes with a removable bucket to simplify cleanup. Use the system with any type or size of fryer. The equipment comes with a 1-yr., parts-and-labor warranty.

SPLASH PROTECTION
This hand sink splashguard helps bring a hand sink located near food-handling areas up to food-code compliance. The easy-to-install splashguard fits a hand sink that is at least 14-in.D from the wall; the backsplash must be at least 8-in.H. Choose between 3 kits—left side, right side or both left and right side. All kits include adhesive, silicone and installation instructions. Each splashguard measures 10-in.H x 14-in.D and is constructed of 18-ga. stainless.
