FER Wins Editorial And Design Awards

Foodservice Equipment Reports took home six regional and one national Azbee Awards from the 2014 American Society of Business Publication Editors’ National Conference held July 25-26 in Chicago.

FER won a Silver Azbee Award in the national Magazine Design category. Editor-In-Chief Beth Lorenzini was especially pleased, as the magazine recently underwent a redesign.

“Our Art Director Julie Wilhm used new fonts, airier leading and white space to enhance the readability of what can be very technical content,” Lorenzini said. “She also committed to larger graphics to engage our readers. It’s wonderful to receive such overwhelming recognition for her exceptional redesign.”

ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence program is one of the most competitive available for business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines, newsletters and digital media, such as websites, e-newsletters, digital magazines and blogs.

In each category, gold, silver and bronze awards are given to the top three contestants in eight geographic regions; regional gold award winners go on to compete for gold, silver and bronze awards at the national level. FER competed in the Upper Midwest Region.

FER‘s winners for the Upper Midwest Region were:

Editorial:

  • Silver, Special Section: 2013 Forecast, January 2013 issue

  • Gold, Magazine Design: March and May 2013 issues
  • Silver, Best Overall Typography: May 2013 issue
