Last month, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opened 28 ghost kitchens across the U.S., with the majority residing in its home state of Texas.

In Texas, ghost kitchens opened in Wylie, Corsicana, McKinney, McQueeny, Irving, Dallas, Lewisville and Ft. Worth. The brand also opened units in Pennsylvania, Florida, Louisiana, Arizona, New Jersey, Alabama, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma and Illinois.

In its Oct. 13 press release, Dickey’s calls ghost kitchens a “creative pathway to long-term expansion,” noting that the units enable them to scale faster and to serve communities where a traditional brick-and-mortar store might not yet exist.

Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, says, “It is about meeting our guests where they are whether they are in a bustling city or a suburban neighborhood and delivering the same authentic barbecue experience with the convenience of digital ordering. This model amplifies our ability to innovate while keeping the traditions of slow-smoked barbecue alive.”
