Burger King Opens First Restaurant In Southwest China
Burger King, which first entered China in 2005, is expanding into the country’s southwestern market. In August, it opened its first restaurant in Chengdu, Sichuan province, marking the chain’s first outlet in southwestern China and a crucial first step for Burger King's development across the region. Over the next five years, the Miami, Fla., chain will be opening 150 to 300 restaurants in Sichuan province, an investment of more than $195 million. While expanding in Sichuan, Burger King will be opening approximately 1,000 new restaurants across the entire nation during the same period, according to Li Boqing, strategic development relationship v.p. of Burger King China.
