India Gets First Of 20 IHOPs

Pancakes, like fried chicken, are loved around the world. A new franchisee has opened the first of 20 planned IHOP restaurants over the next decade in India. The American breakfast chain’s first Indian location opened June 4 in CyberHub, Gurgaon, and incorporates key elements of IHOP’s California Heritage design—including pancake station, open kitchen, and fresh juice bar. With an international development pipeline of nearly 200 units, parent DineEquity is aiming to double IHOP and Applebees’ global presence to more than 500 locations by 2021. International growth has been largely focused on Latin America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, and increasing the store count in existing markets while entering new ones. IHOP has more than 1,700 restaurants spanning 12 countries.
