Round Table Pizza, a 450-unit chain on the upswing, has been acquired by Global Franchise Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition of the employee-owned chain gives Atlanta-based GFG its fifth brand. In addition to Great American Cookies and Pretzelmaker, GFG operates Marble Slab Creamery/Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Hot Dog on a Stick, which it acquired out of bankruptcy in 2014.

Acquiring Round Table gives GFG a portfolio of brands that operate more than 1,500 locations and have nearly $1 billion in combined system sales.

Round Table, based in Concord, Calif., has its largest footprint in western states. It emerged from Chapter 11 in 2010. Thanks to improving unit volumes, its system sales have grown more than 10% in the past two years. Most of its locations are franchisee-owned, but the company operates 70 stores.

GFG said it plans to invest in menu and technology innovations. It also plans to build franchisee support and remodel restaurants.
