Sweetgreen announced in a Sept. 30 press release that it has opened its first North Carolina location in Charlotte. The 2,479-square-foot location illustrates the brand’s continued nationwide expansion.

“We’re so grateful for the warm welcome and excitement around Sweetgreen coming to North Carolina to join the Queen City,” says Jonathan Neman, co-founder and CEO of Sweetgreen, in the release. “As we expand across the Carolinas, we’re looking forward to teaming up with local partners in the Southeast to serve fresh delicious meals to the community.”

For the new Charlotte location, for example, Sweetgreen will serve some of its LTO menu items using local ingredients, including goat cheese from Goat Lady Dairy and sweet potatoes from farmer Randall Watkins of Watkins Farms.

Sweetgreen confirmed via email that it threw a kick-off party yesterday to celebrate the North Carolina opening. The restaurant accommodates up to 42 diners inside and 26 diners on its patio. It offers pickup and delivery options as well.

Sweetgreen started out in 2007 and currently operates over 230 locations across the U.S. It made news last year when it started using an automated production line. Prior to its move into North Carolina, the brand shared in September that it opened its first store in Ohio.
