New Jersey-based Playa Bowls announced Feb. 12 it has signed eight multiunit franchise agreements. The agreements will lead to 54 new shops, including its first in Chicago and an increased presence in Miami, New York, Boston and other areas.

“With these 54 shops added to the 100+ units already in the pipeline, Playa Bowls growth is only ramping up,” says Jayson Tipp, chief development officer at Playa Bowls, in the release. “We are well on the way to achieving our goal to establish a presence in every region of the U.S., and our current initiatives are successfully reaching key markets nationwide.”

Launched in 2014, Playa Bowls has more than 200 shops systemwide, operating in 22 states. The superfruit bowl concept serves over 40 items, including acai, pitaya, coconut bowls, smoothies and cold brew.
