In Memoriam: Mark J. Kurmlavage, of M.K. Food Service Equipment

Longtime MAFSI member Mark J. Kurmlavage, owner and president of M.K. Food Service Equipment, passed away April 9. He was 69.

Kurmlavage led M.K. Food Service Equipment for over four decades. “He built not just a successful business, but a true community of colleagues, customers and employees—many of whom he considered close friends,” MAFSI says in the announcement. “Known for his sharp business mind, warm demeanor and tireless dedication, Mark was known to host meetings and conferences that stretched long into the evening, building bonds as much as business.”

Kurmlavage is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Wheat) Kurmlavage; his brothers, Michael M. Kurmlavage (Maria) and John L. Kurmlavage; his brother-in-law, Daniel Wheat; nieces, Vera and Barbara Rose; nephews, Michael and Christopher; and his beloved goddaughters, Barbara Rose Dello Monache, Lisa Bristow Cecil and Alexandra (Zehner) Rodriguez.
