Though far from its home base of Los Angeles, burger concept Johnny Rockets says it sees a “significant opportunity” in India, as well as in nontraditional locations.

Those insights came in step with parent company Fat Brands’ April 18 announcement of a new Johnny Rockets at India’s Kempegowda International Airport, located in Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka.

According to a statement from Jake Berchtold, COO of FAT Brands’ fast casual division, an expanded nontraditional presence of the brand is “a key growth objective.” “Strategically, we are pleased to spearhead this type of expansion in a country like India, where we see significant opportunity to build our footprint,” Berchtold adds.

The airport location’s menu includes cooked-to-order burgers, hand-spun ice cream shakes, crispy fries, halal chicken options and more.

In March, the brand also shared news of a development deal to grow its footprint in Mexico, where it first debuted in 1991. Within the next 10 years, brand franchisee Virko Restaurantes S.A. de C.V is set to open 20 Johnny Rockets in Mexico; the new locations will join an existing fleet of 25 restaurants across Mexico.

Overall, Johnny Rockets has a presence across the U.S. and in 25 other countries.
