Perkins Makes Double-Time Debut in the Lone Star State
The 65-year-old restaurant brand is officially embarking on new territory—times two.
Perkins American Food Co. is set to make its entrance into Texas for the first time—with a three-unit-deal inked—plus launch its new Griddle & Go fast-casual format there.
The format, initially announced earlier this month, covers 1,500 square feet and offers seating for 65 guests. The design is made to fit into various settings, including traditional street-front retail as well as nontraditional venues.
“Perkins Griddle & Go offers the same great value and quality that have made Perkins a beloved brand, now in a more accessible, convenient and affordable format,” explained Toni Ronayne, president of Perkins American Food Co., in a release. “We couldn’t be more excited to invite guests into this new model and continue to delight them with high-quality meals at affordable prices that keep them nourished as they go about their busy lives. The smaller footprint model allows us to drive brand growth and to reach guests where they are by expanding into premier real estate including colleges, casinos, c-stores and more.”
The concept will feature new digital menu boards, kiosks and other technological upgrades meant to “enhance franchisees’ operational efficiency and enrich customers’ dining experience through frictionless experiences that deliver speed and convenience.”
The format’s menu is new as well, comprising breakfast sandwiches, a “lighter eats” section, plus burgers and more.
The Texas units, to be operated by new franchisee Sam Atkinson, will be located in Prosper, Melissa and Rockwall.
Perkins American Food Co., formerly known as Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, operates nearly 300 company-owned and franchise locations. The company is owned by Ascent Hospitality Management.
