HB Protein Smoothies Signs 3-Market Deal

HB Protein Smoothies signed a new multi-unit franchise agreement spanning three markets: Phoenix; Boise, Idaho; and Portland, Ore.

The deal involves Jim and Brandon Lovelace, Ed Holmes and Chris Phillips—all seasoned multiunit operators with over 120 locations across multiple brands, including Papa Murphy’s and Crumbl Cookies.

“Papa Murphy’s brings us together,” Phillips says. “My family is the longest-tenured franchisee in the system. My dad started back in ’81, so he was one of the first. The Lovelaces are the largest Papa Murphy’s franchisee.”

Phillips says they’re also looking at additional territories for HB Protein Smoothies.

“For us, these initial stores are not the finish line, but it’s just the beginning for us,” he says. “Hopefully, that lives to be true, and we can continue to expand with HB and create a long-term partnership.”
