Starbucks Picks Location for New Tech Hub

In fiscal year 2027, Starbucks Technology will open a new technology hub in Chennai, India.

The facility will support Starbucks’ global business and eventually enable the brand to bring more work in-house, rather than relying on third-party service providers.

“This is an important milestone in how we continue to build a more flexible and globally connected Technology organization,” says a Sept. 21 letter from Anand Varadarajan, executive vice president and chief technology officer. “Our teams already work closely with technology vendors in India and other countries. Establishing a Starbucks Technology hub in India gives us the opportunity to build a more partner-centric organization which will be created by bringing capability inside Starbucks over time and creating stronger connections to the work, priorities and culture of our business.”
