Tim Hortons Refocuses, Plans 800 New Stores By 2018

Tim Hortons, the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain, is in “reset mode” in 2014 but will open at least 800 new restaurants through 2018 under a strategic plan to secure its dominance in Canada and boost its presence in the U.S. At least 500 of those store openings will be in Canada, including new formats in offices, sporting venues and healthcare settings. In the U.S., Tim Hortons already has signed development agreements for 95 restaurants over the next five years in Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota and Ohio. The chain will further expand in the Middle East, where it already has 38 units; there are 3,588 Tim Hortons in Canada and 859 in the U.S.
