Edward Don Buys Smith & Greene

Two months after acquiring Atlanta Fixture and Sales Corp., Edward Don & Co. has purchased Smith & Greene Co., a Kent, Wash., dealer reporting sales of $78.2 million in 2016.

“We look forward to adding the resources of the Smith & Greene team in the Pacific Northwest region,” says Steve Don, CEO of the Woodridge, Ill., dealer. “Smith & Greene has an outstanding reputation and great customer relationships in a very attractive geography.”

Smith & Greene will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Don and will remain under the leadership team of Brad Smith and Garrett Mullen as co-presidents.

“Our companies are a great cultural fit that share similar values of high-integrity and putting our customers and employees first,” Mullen says. “We look forward to serving our customers with the broader offering of products and facilities that being a part of Edward Don & Company brings us.”

Smith added, “This is a great opportunity for the Smith & Greene team to grow beyond our existing capabilities with the synergies that Don brings. The combining of our strengths will be a huge benefit to our customers and employees as we continue to broaden our market share in the Northwest and beyond."

Don is the country’s third-largest E&S dealer, with 2016 sales of $848.8 million. This deal marks its second acquisition since an investment from Vestar Capital Partners in March 2017.
