The results of CFESA’s first Top Tech Throwdown event—held Jan. 16 in Region 4 (Columbia, S.C.)—are in.

Two winners and two runner-ups were named, with Tim George, of ATech, winning on the cold side and David Imrie, of Whaley Foodservice, winning on the hot side. Runner-ups were Josh Schaffner, of Clark Service Group, for the cold side and James Hughes, also of Clark Service Group, on the hot side.

The new competition, which continues in Region 1 on Feb. 20, entails a series of hands-on stations and written challenges to evaluate technical expertise, mechanical aptitude and real-world problem-solving, says CFESA. Each region’s champions will ultimately face off in the national championship at CFESA’s headquarters in Fort Mill, S.C.
