EMR Hires Safety Manager

The new hire brings over 20 years of experience in logistics, fleet management and workplace safety.

George Alford has joined Baltimore -based Electric Motor Repair Co. as its safety manager.

In this role, he will lead initiatives to strengthen safety standards, conduct employee training and ensure that EMR continues to operate at the highest levels of safety excellence.

Alford hails from Genesis Logistics, where he worked as fleet and safety manager since 2019. Before that, he worked as the logistics and safety manager at Holly Poultry for 19 years. Alford holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from UMBC. He also is OSHA 511 certified and has extensive expertise in DOT compliance.

Alford’s passion for safety stems from a deeply personal experience early in his career, when he tragically lost an employee in a driving accident, shares EMR. Since then, he has dedicated himself to ensuring employees have the training, tools and knowledge to make decisions that protect themselves and others.

“Safety isn’t just a policy—it’s a mindset,” he says. “My mission is to make it second nature.”

Outside of work, Alford bowls twice a week in a league, competes in 9-ball pool tournaments, and explores new restaurants as a self-proclaimed foodie. He also has auditioned for “Survivor” 24 times.

EMR, a third-generation family-owned business, operates five locations that serve the mid-Atlantic region.
